Customer-owned AI, client-rendered avatar
Spatius receives avatar speech audio and produces motion data. AvatarKit renders on the client. Your application owns ASR, LLM, TTS, tools, knowledge, CRM, scoring, workflows, and turn-taking.
Spatius and D-ID overlap in the AI avatar category, but the buying decision starts with the output. Spatius is built as a live interaction layer inside a customer application. D-ID is commonly evaluated for a broader set of talking-avatar, agent, and video workflows.
Metrics use the current published framing. Test both products under the same session, client, and network conditions.
| Decision area | Spatius | D-ID |
|---|---|---|
| Product role | Real-time avatar interaction layer | Avatar, agent, and video platform |
| Primary output | Live motion data for an application | Cloud-generated or streamed visual output |
| Rendering | AvatarKit on the client | Cloud visual generation |
| AI stack | Customer owns the agent and logic | Broader managed product surface |
| Published bandwidth | 10–20 KB/s / around 100 kbps | Measure the actual D-ID media session |
| Published latency | Under 300 ms avatar-layer; under 1.5 s end-to-end depending on stack | Use D-ID's current metric and definition |
| Best fit | Embedded live applications | Broader avatar and video requirements |
The important distinction is what moves across the network and which parts of the AI product your team owns.
Spatius receives avatar speech audio and produces motion data. AvatarKit renders on the client. Your application owns ASR, LLM, TTS, tools, knowledge, CRM, scoring, workflows, and turn-taking.
D-ID is relevant when a team needs more than a runtime layer: talking-avatar generation, cloud-hosted workflows, or a wider creative platform. Separate those needs from real-time application requirements.
A fair comparison identifies where both products fit—and where they do not.
Spatius does not replace a video editor or content suite. A cloud video platform should not be selected by default when the requirement is specifically a lightweight, client-rendered live avatar.
Do not compare two vendor demos with different inputs. Use one test plan and document what each platform includes.
