Separate authored content from adaptive practice.
Elai's official API page also advertises real-time API early access. Treat early-access capabilities as a separate evaluation until availability and production terms are confirmed.
| Decision area | Spatius | Elai.io |
|---|
| Core role | Live avatar presentation layer for an interactive agent | Text-to-video platform and API for avatar-led content |
| Learning input | Learner speech, application state, knowledge, tools, and dynamic feedback | Prepared text, templates, avatars, languages, media, and personalization data |
| Output | Motion data rendered in the learner's client during a session | Rendered video asset for courses, onboarding, explainers, or outreach |
| Real-time status | Core product workflow | Official API page invites users to request real-time API early access; verify current production availability |
| Primary metric | Response, comprehension, practice quality, interruption, and recovery | Time to approved lesson, localization quality, consistency, and production throughput |
| Best fit | AI tutors, role-play, coaching, assessment, and guided assistance | Course videos, explainers, onboarding libraries, and personalized messages |
Many learning programs need both modes. Authored video is effective for a standardized explanation that must remain consistent and reviewable. Interactive practice is valuable when the learner should retrieve knowledge, explain reasoning, rehearse a conversation, or receive feedback based on an answer. A strong architecture may use Elai for the instruction segment and Spatius for the practice segment, with the learning platform passing context and outcomes between them.
Architecture and product boundary
Map lesson creation and learner interaction separately.
The learning objective should determine the system, not a preference for video or avatars.
SpatiusAdaptive session around your learning agent
Your application manages curriculum context, learner history, retrieval, prompts, assessment logic, tools, safety, speech recognition, and TTS. Spatius converts the response audio into motion data and AvatarKit renders the character. The learner's actions can change the next turn immediately.

Elai.ioAuthored text-to-video production
Elai describes generating videos with digital presenters from text, using templates, voices, languages, backgrounds, text, screencasts, and other elements. Its API can automate bulk or personalized creation. The system produces an asset that can move through review, publishing, an LMS, and repeat viewing.
Lesson and template→Elai API or editor→Render→Course video
The data model also differs. Generated content needs source version, script approval, language, voice, presenter, asset rights, publication status, and replacement rules. A live tutor needs learner consent, session state, prompt and knowledge versions, evaluation criteria, transcript handling, escalation, and outcome data. Designing these records early prevents an avatar experiment from becoming an ungoverned content or assessment system.
Best fit
Match the tool to the learning behavior.
“Engagement” is too vague. Define what the learner should do differently after the experience.
Choose Spatius when…
- Learners ask unscripted questions or need adaptive explanations.
- Practice, role-play, coaching, or oral assessment is central.
- Your organization already owns the tutor or agent stack.
- The avatar must operate inside a Web or mobile learning product.
- Live tools and learner context must shape the response.
Choose Elai.io when…
- The lesson is known and should be approved before delivery.
- Teams need reusable avatar-led course videos.
- Localization and bulk production are important.
- Templates, presenters, screencasts, and visual elements form the lesson.
- API-driven personalized videos fit the distribution workflow.
Not the best fit
Spatius is not an authoring suite, LMS, curriculum database, or assessment engine. Elai's established text-to-video API should not be treated as a production conversational runtime unless the real-time offering, contract, architecture, and performance are explicitly confirmed. For passive material where neither an avatar nor video improves the objective, well-designed text, diagrams, or interactive exercises may be better.
