HeyGen Pricing Plans for 2026: API Credits and Real Cost

HeyGen pricing in 2026 starts at $0. Creator costs $29 per month, Pro starts at $49, and Business costs $149 plus $20 per additional seat. Those web plans are not the Video API or LiveAvatar: the API uses a separate prepaid dollar wallet from $5, while LiveAvatar has its own streaming credits.

Prices, credits, and limits were checked September 8, 2026. HeyGen changes plans and model rates, so confirm the live checkout and in-product estimate before purchasing.

HeyGen says the former Team plan was deprecated in January 2026. Existing subscribers may retain it, but new buyers should not use legacy Team prices for a current budget.

How many minutes do HeyGen credits buy?

There is no single credits-to-minutes conversion. HeyGen’s current credit-usage table charges 16 credits per minute for an Avatar IV Photo Look, 31 for an Avatar IV Video Look, and 48 for Avatar V. Its Avatar IV guide also warns that this premium model is never unlimited. Therefore, Creator’s 600 credits theoretically cover about 37.5, 19.4, or 12.5 minutes, respectively.

Creator and Pro users cannot buy one-time credit packs; they must move to a higher tier. Business can buy 100 credits for $5. Monthly credits roll over for one additional billing cycle, while annual-plan credits can accumulate until renewal. That makes model choice and utilization—not merely the subscription fee—the real cost drivers.

HeyGen API pricing is a separate wallet

The Video API is prepaid and pay-as-you-go, with a $5 minimum. According to HeyGen’s API pricing explainer, it does not require Creator, Pro, or Business, and its balance is separate from web-plan credits.

API operationCurrent self-serve rate
Avatar IV Photo, 720p/1080p$3/min
Avatar IV Digital Twin or Studio Avatar, 720p/1080p$4/min
Avatar IV Photo, 4K$4/min
Avatar IV Digital Twin or Studio Avatar, 4K$5/min
Video Agent$2/min
Translation: audio only / speed lip sync / precision$1 / $2 / $4 per min
Starfish text-to-speech$0.04/min

A 100-minute workload is therefore about $300 for Avatar IV Photo at 1080p, $400 for a Digital Twin at 1080p, or $200 for Video Agent before retries and adjacent workflow costs. API funds expire after 12 months, free API credits ended in February 2026, and self-serve accounts can process up to ten video jobs concurrently. HeyGen’s API quick start shows that this workflow returns a generated MP4; it is not a live session. The developer documentation uses different contract units for Enterprise, so do not apply those rates to a self-serve estimate.

Independent analyses from G2 and Arcade also emphasize per-operation math and credit consumption. Use them to identify cost questions, but use HeyGen’s current checkout and documentation as the authority for price.

LiveAvatar pricing is separate again

LiveAvatar is HeyGen’s real-time interactive product, not a prerecorded Video API plan. The official HeyGen versus LiveAvatar explanation says they have different accounts, outputs, and pricing. LiveAvatar currently lists Starter at $19 for 200 credits, Essential at $99 for 1,100, and Business at $475 for 6,000. LiveAvatar’s credit documentation says Avatar Only consumes one credit per streamed minute and Full mode consumes two.

Do not add those credits to a HeyGen Creator or API balance. For session limits, overage, current documentation conflicts, and streaming-minute calculations, use the dedicated LiveAvatar pricing guide rather than treating this broad HeyGen page as a second LiveAvatar calculator.

When can Spatius cost less?

HeyGen Studio and the Video API create finished video; Spatius provides a real-time avatar layer for a product that already owns its LLM, speech, tools, and workflow. They are not like-for-like services. For an interactive SaaS workload, the more relevant comparison is LiveAvatar’s Avatar Only mode versus Spatius.

The current Spatius pricing lists Starter at $189 per year—about $16 per month—with approximately 2,000 avatar minutes per month, four concurrent sessions, and additional usage at $0.0072 per minute. LiveAvatar Starter lists 200 credits for $19 monthly, equal to 200 Avatar Only minutes under its published rule. Spatius therefore publishes roughly 10× the included avatar capacity at a slightly lower monthly equivalent, but buyers must add their own LLM, STT, TTS, transport, and operations costs.

The official LiveKit integration guide shows how Spatius renders an avatar inside an existing voice-agent session. Use the AI avatar pricing comparison and avatar cost calculator to compare the same workload, including minutes, concurrency, session length, and excluded services.

What should buyers verify before choosing a plan?

  • Confirm whether the output is a finished video or a live, interruptible session.
  • Identify which wallet pays for every operation and whether unused value expires.
  • Model the exact avatar engine, resolution, retries, seats, and localization steps.
  • Check concurrency, watermark, commercial-use, and custom-avatar terms.
  • Compare total stack cost rather than a headline price attached to a different product.

For workflow experience rather than billing facts, buyer reviews on Capterra provide a useful secondary perspective. Final prices should still come from the vendor’s checkout and documentation.
